This to me is watercolor at it's best: Maximum effect with minimum execution -- an "economy of means" -- broad washes, crisp dry brush, key whites, every stroke thoughtfully and carefully placed. The obvious "imperfections" throughout, when noticed for their own sake, contribute nevertheless significantly -- it's difficult to find any part that is not strategic to the overall effect. It's almost spiritual how, it doesn't seem to work at all but then, it all works beautifully.
