Most of the paintings here are painted at the local creek here in Marietta, Georgia called Sope Creek. It was either named after someone named Sope, or by someone who was a bad speller. I first painted here in 1995 when coming to Georgia after living in California for twenty years. The autumn foliage was something that I had missed for such a long time, that it set off a mad painting spree, in which I did some 60 plein air watercolors that first year between late Sept and Dec of '95. It remains one of my favorite places to paint.
