Mostly plein air pastels done in 2007-2008 in my backyard in Georgia. I have traveled all across the US doing watercolors of beautiful places for over 40 years and this was the first time that I took the peaceful views in my own backyard seriously. The triptychs were something that came out of these quick pastel thumbnial sketches. Done in rapid succession, these 5x6" pieces often did the same subject again and again with different results, or I would pan across the scene, or pull back to show a different view of the same subject. All this, plus other factors that work together to give contex to a body of work where the three pieces relate to each other. These were done as sketches for large oils, but are quite nice on their own.
